Ocenenia pre najlepšie hry roka sa rozdávali aj na podujatí GDC (Game Developers Conference) 2019 a aj tu sa tradične očakával súboj Playstation 4 exkluzivity God of War a westernovej open-world hry od Rockstaru, Red Dead Redemption 2. A asi nikto nezostane šokovaný, keď skonštatujeme, že práve God of War získal ocenenie pre najlepšiu hru roka 2018. GDC ocenenia však nemajú až tak veľa kategórií a tak si táto hra odniesla iba jedno, no zároveň to najvyššie ocenenie.
